I began writing By Sun and Candlelight as a light-hearted "I'll see if I can
do this too" fic in April, 2000. I originally set out to write Giles/Cordelia,
having been inspired by Nickle's fics. However, Angel popped in just before
the end of the first chapter and there you go, I wrote an Angel/Cordelia fic! As usual,
the characters do what they want to do!
I know I've been saying it for a while but I am re-writing By Sun and because it has become a bit dusty, I have taken it down to fix up. Hopefully I'll have it back soon.
Brief Conversations started as a place to put small, one-off fics. Ideas that cropped
up as I wrote By Sun. I still write the occasional BC, when inspired by some
everyday event. Although the BC's are intended to be stand-alone fics, several
share themes. I Could Have Danced All Night, Close Your Eyes and Smiley follow on from
each other as Cordelia attempts to teach Angel some of the social niceties. Modern Medicine, Thin Ice
and Guy Stuff are related by the inclusion of contemporary references to Orla, a character who
features in Our Lad Liam.
Our Lad Liam was both a joy and a despair to write. I thoroughly enjoyed delving
into Liam. OLL began as a blatant excuse to write some smut, but quickly changed as I discovered
the joy of Liam. The smut stayed, though! Orla, inspired by the painting "Boreas", began to grow in importance. I also
needed to do some significant research on 18th century Galway. Not that I used many references
in the story, but I wanted to understand Liam's environment. OLL is my least recognised fic, as far
as popular appeal decides, but to me it is one of my most fulfilling pieces.
Mixt Soules sprang from various Series 2 spoilers and episodes. Less fluff, more angst. Most of the
stories explore the relationship between Angel and Cordelia, primarily focusing on friendship. I am
particularly pleased with the recent What's Love Got To Do With It?, exploring 'what if' Cordelia and Angel
hopped into bed together.
Twighlight Fantasies is the section which houses my erotica and poetry. I adore writing poetry. Strange,
as for most of the last thirty years I have crossed the street to avoid the stuff! I enjoy writing for the
moment. No epic works here.
I don't archive my work on any other sites, except by direct linkage back to
By Sun. Primarily because I am a tinkerer - I like to revise and correct. Much easier to do so
when you don't have to run around a dozen sites asking the owners to update!
