Episode 3 (the brief brief summary - longer version to come)

Robert and Cathy are asleep in bed together.

David Scobie is finally given permission to join Jack on the surgical team. It is his last shift at A&E.

Louise has morning sickness. Christine tells Louise they won't have room for her in A&E after she has the baby.

A young man is brought in fitting. He has a subarachnoid haemorrhage. Louise and Stuart are at odds over his care.

Christine urges Robert to apply for a new position to be made when A&E, ITU and Trauma are brought under the one directorate, Critical Care.

Steve, an aggressive husband with a history of mental disorders, refuses to leave his wife while she is being treated. He is eventually restrained.

Kate keeps stuffing up minor procedures. She leaves a vomiting patient unattended but Sam comes to the rescue.

Christine resents Robert calling in Jack for an opinion on Deb and her broken leg. Deb is the wife of the unstable Steve.

Sam tells Robert about Kate's lapses.

When Jack arrives to see Deb, he is cautious with his answer. Robert and Christine clearly have different opinions. Robert comments that Jack is diplomatic and would make a very good Critical Care director. Jack is annoyed that there is little history on the patient and sends Christine off to obtain information from Steve but when Christine returns without anything new, Jack goes to see Steve himself and, much to Christine' chagrin, comes back with the solution.

Louise goes home but collapses on the way and is brought back to St Victor's in an ambulance.

Robert tells Christine he is not going for the new Directorship. Christine is annoyed, realising the job will go to Jack.

Jack and Christine have to inform Steve that his wife died during surgery from a pulmonary embolism.
