Episode 10 (JTR=2) (a brief summary - longer version to come)

Young boys are spray painting inside a railway tunnel.

Jack and Christine are driving to work. Jack is trying to worm his way out of a dinner invitation from Christine.

In the locker room, Christine chats with Sam about 'men'.

An elderly lady wants to 'buy' an operation, offering cash.

David visits Cathy in her hospital room, two large bunches of flowers in his arms. They are from Yvonne's funeral, sent along by Yvonne's mother.

The two boys from the opening scene are brought in to A&E. One of them, Charlie, has lost a hand.

Sam reassures a nervous and dithering Jack that she hasn't told anybody about their one-night stand. Relieved, Jack informs Christine that he is on for dinner after all. He'll cook.

Sam sees Christine and Jack talking and twigs that they are involved.

Interviews for the registrars position are being conducted. Both Mike and Stuart are up for the job. Jack is supporting Stuart, Robert is pushing for Mike.

Mike loses his temper in the interview when Jack questions the intubation of Maree Hitchman the previous week. The outburst doesn't do Mike any favours and the panel offers the position of registrar to Stuart.

Jack finally tells Sam, that yes, he has been seeing Christine. Sam tells him off. "Well, she's a lot nearer your own age, isn't she!"

Sam goes off to find Christine and bluntly tells her that she slept with Jack the night before.

Christine asks Jack out to eat instead of him cooking, her treat. On the way, she stops the car in the rain and declares a tyre is punctured, asking Jack to hop out and have a look. As soon he goes around the car, she winds the window down - "this is cold, calculated revenge" - and drives off, leaving Jack wet and dripping.

Later on a very wet Jack knocks at Christine's front door:
Christine: You can't come in.
Jack: No, don't want to come in. Just want you to know I thought it was very good, very funny. Bye.
Christine: Hold on! Aren't you going to apologise or anything?
Jack: No, I'm not going to apologise or anything. I've no intention of apologising. What am I going to apologise for?
Christine: You know exactly what you should be apologising for.
Jack: No! Did I ever say we were exclusive? Did you ever say we were exclusive?
Christine: No, but...
Jack: No. I mean if that is what you want do come out and say it, do.
Christine: I don't know exactly...
Jack: You see, I thought, it looked as if...it, it, it seemed and felt as if we were getting quite close...and it was quite enjoyable and I'm not really used to that...
Christine: So you had sex with someone else.
Jack: Yeah.
Christine: Sam.
Jack: Yeah.
Christine: And you expect me to feel the same way.
Jack: No, Robert is right, isn't he. It's not going to work.
Christine: Wait a minute. Robert isn't right.
Jack: No, look, Christine, what is it you want? Because if it's all that cosy domesticity stuff, it isn't me.
Christine: I want you to get out of those wet clothes.
Jack: Fine
and Christine lets him inside.
