Episode 13 (JTR=2) (a brief summary - longer version to come)

Jack and Christine arrive at work together. Jack is looking through a brochure from a real estate agent. They are planning on looking at a house on Saturday morning. He reads through some features, including a water feature and local schools. "What happened to Jack 'Born Free' Turner?" asks Christine. Jack says he was a strange little man and he never really got on with him. He's gone forever.

Jack tells Christine that the external assessors will be in and he has told them they can use her office.

A new drug rep tries to get to speak with Robert.

Darren Bracewell is still in A&E. Tania, his wife, is asleep in a chair next to him when Kate looks in. Kates offers to get Tania a cup of tea and Robert follows Kate into the tea-room. Kate thinks she could have done more to prevent Darren's condition from deteriorating but Robert says no, it was Jack's fault, not hers.

Christine goes to x-ray to try and find the missing film, but there is no trace.

An elderly man named Ashok Kapoor, suffering from dementia, is brought in to A&E after a fall down the stairs. He is accompanied by his daughter, Meera.

Robert finds the three external assessors in his and Christine's office. One of the men is Clive Thornton, a man Jack was chatting to at the fundraiser the day before. Tamsin Brown, from the Health Department, tells Robert that they will be interviewing each member of staff to build up a picture of how the department functions.

David Scobie is scheduled to present a talk to a group of nurse practitioners. He practices in the gents.

Des Mullen arrives in A&E. He and Terry trained together in Liverpool. The agency has sent him to cover for Cathy.

Jack meets with the external assessors. They explain to Jack that they will offer a range of solutions to any problems that they identify.

Christine, Jack and Robert meet to discuss Darren's lost x-ray. Christine reports that there is still no sign of it. Jack says he should submit a report and Robert haggles over the implication that the loss reflects on the department as a whole. Robert thinks it very convenient that the x-ray just disappeared. Jack asks Robert if he wants to put that in writing. "Absolutely," says Robert.

Robert informs Meera Kapoor that there is nothing abnormal to be seen on her father's x-rays and his blood results are fine but he would like to keep the old man in for further tests.

Kate is interviewed by the assessors and mentions tension between some members of staff, Mr Kingsford and Mr Turner.

Christine finds Jack watching Darren through the glass window of his room. She says she doesn't think Robert meant what he said, but Jack disagrees. David interrupts, asking Jack for funny fracture stories for his talk to the nurse practitioners.

Judy attempts to feed Mr Kapoor a spoonful of soup, but he complains of pain. Robert finds abrasions inside his mouth. He and Stuart think that the abrasions are the result of rough spoon-feeding. Robert speaks to Meera to try and determine what has been happening at home.

A group of footy-fans are brought in. The coach they have been travelling in has been involved in an accident. During the rush of treating three serious casualties, Des is sent for pethidine. He takes the opportunity to pocket an ampoule while he has access to the drug cupboard.

Judy has heard that Cathy won't be coming back to St Vic's. Judy tells Sam and Sam says she will consider applying. Judy says that Christine approached her earlier to encourage her to apply. Sam confronts Christine. She thinks that Christine didn't ask her to apply because she slept with Jack. Robert overhears the conversation.

Christine has her turn at meeting with the assessors. She says they need to decide where the department is headed, maybe change the way it is run and even the people who are running it.

Robert keeps the assessors waiting when he spends time counselling Meera.

Terry discovers a discrepancy in the drug book and realises Des must have taken some pethidine. Terry forces Des to hand the drugs back.

Robert finally gets to the assessors. Robert tells them he feels being there in A&E makes a difference. Then he says that is crap. Then he says he doesn't think he can do this anymore. Clive Thornton says they should take a break. He follows Robert out to the tea room. Thornton tells Robert to remember who he is and that he's 'a bloody good doctor'.

David is showing the nurse practitioners x-rays of the c-spine. One of the x-rays is of a tiny fracture. Christine is present as she has to assess David's presentation. After David's talk is completed, Christine asks to have a look at the x-ray film. It is a copy of Darren's Bracewell's initial x-ray. She takes the film back to her office.

Jack comes looking for Christine to see if she wants to get something for dinner. She says she has to work late. Jack sees that Christine is holding an x-ray but she says it is 'nothing much'.

The drug rep finally catches up with Robert again and offers to take him for a drink. Christine finds Robert in the bar. They sit talking over a drink and Robert apologises for overhearing the conversation about Jack and Sam. Robert then says he hasn't told anybody yet, but he is leaving St Vic's, he's getting out of A&E for good.
